The Block Island

Senior Center

Dedicated to Enhancing the Lives of our Older Adults

Mission Statement

The mission of the Block Island Senior Citizens Center is to provide opportunity for the "young at heart" to meet and enjoy a wide variety of social, educational, health, and recreational activities and programs and to promote the positive aspects of aging to them, their families, and the community at large.

The Center services the seniors of the Town of New Shoreham. According to the 2000 Census, Block Island has a total population of 1051 with 402, or approximately 40% of the population over the age of 55. Members range from age 50 to over 90 years old.

These services at the center include participation in daily and special activities, health clinics, special programs, day and overnight trips, (interrupted by COVID) etc.

We like to think that the Senior Center has become an integral part of the community. Our commitment is to be open to serving all of the seniors of Block Island. The Center is a wonderful place to make new friends, enjoy a delicious hot meal, learn a new skill, take a day trip, volunteer, and / or partake of the wide variety of activities offered. Come join us!
